The last week of my internship has been extremely busy for me. Over the past two weeks, I have been called on to record vocal actors in the studio, edit the content, and create content for clients. In fact, I have even been told that after the internship ends, I will be kept on as a freelance audio recorder and editor, as well as a key grip for video shoots. All this is very exciting and I look forward to doing it.
Over the duration of my internship at BOCO I learned a good deal about the software that I need to know how to use in order to be successful in the communications field. I have made a lot of great connections and have even received freelance offers from a few of them. The internship provided a good base for me to see how a professional communications-based company works as far as how the days are paced, deadlines, and the knowledge that I need to complete all those tasks. My proudest accomplishment from the semester are really two things: One, was an audio office that I set-up myself, which included assembling a Smart Desk, properly setting up a MAC with proper audio software, connecting audio monitors and a USB interface, assembling a vocal booth, wiring the booth, and running the wire/mics through a wall and into a compressor. The second accomplishment, if not even more important, was gaining the trust of the company to allow me to do that large task in the first place. This whole semester has been a great time, and I look forward to working for BOCO in the future.
