My name is Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick and I am currently studying in Aberdeen, Scotland.
In a smaller city than Glasgow or Edinburgh, I get a taste of city life as well as the advantage of walking along the coast of Aberdeen’s beach, both only taking about twenty minutes to travel to. Scotland is beautiful, but also very rich in culture. Often being overlooked, I’m glad I chose Scotland to start my study abroad experience. The locals are friendly, helpful, and I’ve been nothing but welcomed here. I am taking courses on film and digital society and a Scottish art history course, which includes field trips to the surrounding churches and castles. The courses are interesting, but are taught very differently than at home. Along with these differences I’ve had to come accustomed to light switches outside the room and rain showers suddenly coming down. The sunlight is little, but when it does come out everything looks stunning. With only some apprehension to start the next few months here I’ve managed to settle in with a great group of friends from many different countries.
