Description: The Curatorial Intern will work closely with IHP film/arts curators in the development and planning of our dynamic film and arts programs. This is a research-oriented position that will include analyzing film/video works, researching artists and filmmakers, and interacting with other arts institutions, film distributors and local partner organizations. This position will give the intern practical experience with arts research and the development of programs. Interns will be encouraged and expected to interface with the dynamic and exciting work presented and become a part of the curatorial process at IHP. Interns will also become familiar with programs and work presented not only at IHP, but at a number of institutions worldwide.
Responsibilities and Qualifications: Qualified applicants will have a strong interest and knowledge in both historical and contemporary film and video as well as performing and visual arts. Applicants must demonstrate experience with independently-driven research and be willing to interface with the artists, ideas and work that IHP has presented and will continue to present. Applicants must be willing to attend some film/arts programs to encourage a greater understanding of the organization’s curatorial focus. Undergraduate juniors and seniors in Film, Art History and Media Arts are encouraged, but those outside of those areas of study with significant interest and experience will also be considered.
Time Required: 12-20 hours per week, preferably during afternoons and/or evenings (flexible)
Compensation: unpaid, college credit
